South Madison honors retiring teachers and coaches, including 40‑year coach Dave Cloud

The South Madison Community School Corporation honored several retiring educators at its meeting, where administrators and colleagues recognized long careers and contributions to students and the community.
Superintendent Dr. Hall led tributes for Angeline Brinson, praising more than 30 years of teaching and calling her a "leader, a mentor, and a steady presence we could always count on." Dr. Hall said Brinson’s classroom "was a place where students felt, and still do, seen, supported, and challenged to grow" and closed the tribute quoting Dr. Seuss: "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. We're smiling today because of everything Angeline Brinson has contributed to our lives." (Speaker: Dr. Hall.)
The board also recognized Dave Cloud, who the district said is retiring after 40 years of service. The remarks summarized Cloud’s classroom work teaching business and economics courses, three decades on the high school football coaching staff (freshmen, junior varsity and varsity), eight years with PHMS football and four decades as the varsity wrestling coach. The district noted Cloud’s role as the Indiana representative of the National Wrestling Coaches Association and his plans to remain active in scholastic leadership conferences for the association.
Two math teachers were recognized for long tenures: Mrs. Dunn, credited with 37 years of service, was noted for sponsoring academic teams, SADD and Best Buddies and for plans to work as a tour director in retirement; and Mrs. Rosley, credited with 36 years of service, was recognized for teaching algebra, geometry, algebra II and dual‑credit courses and for her ties to the Pendleton community. Colleagues and the superintendent thanked the retirees for decades of service and wished them well.
The recognitions were ceremonial; the meeting provided refreshments and an opportunity for staff, board members and the retirees' families to speak informally after the tributes.
