The district said presidential awardees will receive a certificate signed by the president of the United States, a trip to Washington, D.C., a series of recognition and professional-development events and a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation. The district noted Terry has spent her entire teaching career at Center Hill and has taught multiple grade levels and courses, including teaching algebra I students at another campus virtually while serving her home school.
A district staff member congratulated Terry and said her students “scored very well on their state test.” The announcement did not provide further details about the selection process or the date of the Washington, D.C., events.
The recognition was presented as part of a longer block of honors that also included awards for other teachers, retiring principals and student achievements. No formal board action or vote was associated with the presentation.
