The CUSD 200 Board of Education on May 14 approved, as part of its consent agenda, the renewal of the food-service management contract with Organic Life LLC and separate agenda language approving an increase in paid lunch price for the 2025–26 school year.
Marcela Macias, identified in public comment as the Organic Life food-service district manager, addressed the board before the consent vote and thanked the district: “Serving District 200 has been an absolute privilege,” she said. Macias told the board Organic Life had served more meals this year than in past years and expressed gratitude to the superintendent, CFO, school board and parents.
Superintendent Doctor Schuler noted the contract renewal appeared on the consent agenda and thanked the company for its work. The consent agenda — which also included items ranging from handbook updates to vending contracts and treasurer bond actions — was approved by unanimous roll call vote.
What happens next: district staff will process the contract renewal with Organic Life and implement the new paid-lunch pricing per board authorization. Staff noted standard follow-up procedures for contracts and pricing adjustments will be carried out through business services.
