A speaker noted that these features support universal design for learning and give students "voice and choice" in how they access materials.
The presentation cited the worldwide figure of more than 1 billion people with disabilities to frame the importance of digital access. A staff member referenced a software feature from UiPath that can help extract core definitions across levels of organization. The remarks also highlighted classroom-level practice: "Mister Yanda, Spanish bilingual teacher at Atia Middle School, is leading the way of providing multiple means of engagement, representation, and action and expression for his learners," a presenter said.
A student who uses augmentative and alternative communication was quoted directly: "I understand everything you say, but I need to use this program to talk because my speech is hard to understand." The presenters described how an early-childhood student uses an eye-gaze communication device and switches to activate toys; they said those devices help the student express himself.
Speakers tied the districttechnology and classroom practices to the Glenview CCSD 34 strategic plan, saying the tools foster greater autonomy and a greater sense of belonging when students feel supported. The presentation closed with staff encouragement: "Good job. Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day. Today and every day, let's continue to cheer on all of our learners to aspire, explore, discover, and connect with the support of technology," a district staff member said.
