Cibolo approves Waste Connections franchise; monthly household fee set at $21.89

Mayor Mark Allen said the Cibolo City Council approved a franchise agreement with Waste Connections Texas during its May 13 meeting, setting the new residential rate at $21.89 per household per month.

The agreement replaces the city’s contract with Republic that ran from 2019 through 2025 and ends a period in which residents experienced no price increases under that earlier contract. “There will be a slight cost increase for this new company due to the fact that we had to sign a new agreement,” Mayor Mark Allen said, citing higher fuel and labor costs as general pressures on the industry.

Why it matters: the change affects trash, recycling and bulk/brush pickup for every household in the City of Cibolo and includes equipment and routing changes. Mayor Mark Allen said new trash carts will be delivered “the week of July 15,” and that the city will announce new routes later.
