Board approves height and parking variances for proposed hotel on Chantilly Parkway

Chris Bostick of Bill Green and Bostick Engineering represented MTD Holdings LLC and described the planned hotel as a Liveaway Suites brand. He asked the board for a 25-space parking reduction, a one-story variance and a 4-foot height variance. Bostick cited the Comfort Inn on adjacent property to the north as a comparable case in which the board previously allowed a one-story, 6-foot height variance and an 11-space parking variance to reach a similar room-to-parking ratio. Board members asked questions about the hotel brand and whether it belongs to a larger family; Bostick said he did not know whether Liveaway Suites is part of Hilton or Marriott.
With no members of the public speaking on the item, a board member moved to approve, a second was recorded, and the board voted unanimously to grant the variances. The transcript records the outcome as unanimous.
