The Library Board Personnel Committee on May 14 set June 6 as the application deadline for the vacant library director position and elected Joanna Daniels as chair of the committee after a committee member resigned.
The committee said the three-week deadline follows the library director hiring process, which requires the personnel committee to establish an application deadline of three weeks from the date a job posting is published. Committee members agreed to post the announcement by Friday, May 16, and to set the application cutoff for June 6.
Kaylee Wilson, a personnel committee member, moved to set the June 6 deadline; Erica Greifler seconded the motion. Committee members present — Kaylee Wilson, Erica Greifler, Jackie Wilbur and Joanna Daniels — voted in favor. The motion passed.
Committee members also discussed the recent resignation of Jim Holcomb, who the committee was told had resigned from the library board. According to the committee, Holcomb had served as vice chair of the library board and as chair of the personnel committee. With Holcomb’s resignation, the committee said the newly elected chair would take responsibility for reviewing applications and setting interview dates.
Joanna Daniels was nominated and accepted the nomination to serve as chair of the personnel committee. The nomination was seconded and approved by the same members present; no opposing votes or abstentions were recorded.
The committee approved meeting minutes from Feb. 18 and April 2 and amended and approved the meeting agenda prior to the new-business discussion. A motion to adjourn was made and seconded; the meeting concluded with all members voting in favor.
The committee did not specify an interview schedule or the number of applicants; those details will be determined by the new chair. No additional deadlines or follow-up dates were announced at the meeting.
