City, Seattle Public Schools and private partner outline plan to rebuild Memorial Stadium at Seattle Center

Seattle Center, Seattle Public Schools and the 1 Roof Stadium Partnership briefed the Parks, Utilities, Technology Committee on May 14 on an interlocal agreement and development agreement to redevelop Memorial Stadium at Seattle Center. The committee heard project scope, governance, funding commitments and a proposed timeline for approvals and construction; no ordinance vote occurred at the committee briefing.

Seattle Center Director Marshall Foster said the project is the result of years of planning and a three‑way partnership that keeps the property owned by Seattle Public Schools while authorizing the city and a private partner to proceed with redevelopment. The school district will retain ownership of the land; the interlocal agreement would set city and district roles and give the city certain campus uses and facilities access as part of the redevelopment.
