Neil Amonson addressed the Community Reinvestment Agency during general public comment, alleging the Salt Lake City Department of Airports made defamatory statements and abruptly terminated a lease that harmed his business.
“Abrupt lease termination and allegations are arbitrary and capricious in addition to a complete disregard of the constitutional right of due process,” Amonson said. He told the board the Department of Airports refused to dialogue with him to resolve what he described as misperceptions and that the actions “directly impact the financial status of my business.”
Amonson also said he is “actively pursuing other hangar facilities in the area” and that he is attempting to get the Federal Aviation Administration to address his concerns, along with questions about the timeline of his original permit request to the Salt Lake City Department of Airports (SLCDA). He told the board that permits issued by the SLCDA contain a clause allowing termination of permits and leases at any time.
The CRA chair noted that the comment concerned the Department of Airports, which is a city agency, and directed Amonson to the City Council meeting on May 20 for matters specific to the council; staff also invited written comments. The board did not take any action on the complaint during the CRA meeting.
