Frost Science seeks local input, offers passes during Miami Lakes committee session

Martinez said her firm has been engaged to conduct 25 listening sessions across the county to gather input from families, teachers and higher-education stakeholders. She asked the committee members about their experiences with the museum and about ideas for local partnerships and programming.
Committee members and attendees described a range of impressions and ideas: visitors recalled enjoying the planetarium, waterfront location and animal exhibits; residents suggested mobile or satellite programming to bring STEM activities closer to Miami Lakes; and members raised interest in technology-focused, interactive exhibits and workforce-connection programming such as flight simulators and AI demonstrations. Martinez said she would gather the input and include it in the museum's planning report.
Martinez also told committee members, "we have 20 passes to be able to distribute to the group," and left tickets for the committee to distribute to interested residents. She said the museum will need to approve performers and program specifics before any partnership or satellite activity can proceed and that the planning report will guide future investments.
Committee members said they were interested in school partnerships, mobile units and satellite exhibits that would bring Frost Science programming to local children and families. Martinez said the museum is trying to reach a representative set of communities across the county and appreciates input that helps target investment.
The meeting segment was primarily a listening session and information-sharing; there was no action taken to commit town funds to the museum or to approve specific partnerships during the May 14 meeting.
