The Village Board granted a B‑1 development permit on May 15 to permit Escritorio Publico, operated by Delita L. Moondragon, to open at 8 West Burlington Avenue in downtown Westmont.
Director Hennerfein explained that any business opening in the B‑1 downtown zone requires board approval; the proposed use—personal and business tax preparation, bookkeeping and notary services—is a permitted office use under the B‑1 rules. Moondragon described her existing business operations and plans to offer bookkeeping, payroll services, translations, notary services (in-person and electronic) and civil wedding officiation. She said initial hours would be 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with Saturdays by appointment, and that hours could expand as her transition to Westmont progressed.
Trustee Scales moved to approve and Trustee Plowman seconded. Roll-call votes recorded Trustees Scales, Plowman, Barker, Guzzo and Little as “yes,” and the motion passed. Mayor Nero congratulated the owner and welcomed the investment in downtown Westmont. No special conditions or variances were attached to the permit at the meeting.
