Staff said tanks are certified and double‑walled, preapproved by the local fire marshal, and will use employee card access so fuel pumps operate only for authorized district staff. A staff member told the committee the card system prevents outside motorists from using the pumps.
On safety systems, the committee reviewed a DAS proposal to provide reliable emergency radio coverage in all district buildings. Staff said Phase 1 has already been completed at 14 buildings and that this approval would finish the remaining sites so the district meets coverage standards; one board member asked a vendor wording correction for a building that sits in Joliet rather than Plainfield in the vendor materials.
Curriculum committee members reviewed a middle‑school novel list that has been on 30‑day display with no public comments and recommended moving the list to the full board for approval at the May 21 meeting. Staff told the committee the novel list is intended to provide vetted, high‑interest titles for small‑group instruction and that some buildings use choice menus so students may select from several vetted titles.
The committee recommended forwarding vendor contracts and the novel list to the full board for final action; no final procurement votes were taken at the committee level during the meeting.
