Jones County assessors said May 8 they remain actively recruiting for the chief appraiser position and two other open postings after one seemingly qualified applicant withdrew.
At the meeting staff summarized hiring activity: assessors have reviewed applications and interviewed some candidates, but one applicant who appeared well qualified withdrew after accepting a position in their home county. "We will continue to look. We continue to to seek that and and are actively exploring that," a staff member said.
Why this matters: the assessor's office described the search as ongoing and said the vacancies require continued recruitment to fill key valuation roles ahead of the planned countywide reevaluation and the May 20 meeting to approve assessment notices.
Next steps: staff said they will continue outreach to potential candidates and update the board at future meetings.
