Plan commission approves fence and screening at Kallick Building Services site

The Oak Creek Plan Commission on May 13 approved site and related plans for construction of fencing and screening at Kallick Building Services, 3834 East Pewds Road, completing a condition of an earlier approval for outdoor storage of shipping containers.

Todd, planning staff, reminded commissioners that the earlier conditional-use approval required a fence and landscaping to screen outdoor storage. The site plan before the commission shows a six‑foot composite fence with steel posts running parallel to Pewds Road, gates on either side of the building, and shrubs along the street. Todd presented an example image of the proposed fence material and noted a streetlight at the terminal end of the cul‑de‑sac would meet city specifications.

Commissioners had no substantive objections. Commissioner Hannah, who said she drives by the area frequently, noted the fence is a "nice looking fence," and staff confirmed the site's dumpsters will be located behind the fence and thus screened from view. Work moved to approve the site plan with the condition that all applicable requirements remain in effect; the motion carried on roll call.

The approval implements screening required by the prior conditional-use decision and does not change the earlier finding that allowed outdoor storage of containers; any future changes to outdoor storage or materials would require additional review.
