Superintendent Dr. Gatto reported that Westminster Public Schools hosted a community meeting last week as part of its Future Together Forward initiative (Fit By) to discuss school visions, repurposing ideas and decision criteria.
Dr. Gatto said the event drew about 55 participants and was organized around six topic areas: vision and values, criteria for decision making, timeline and communication, community impact and support, ideas for repurposing schools, and feedback and engagement. He encouraged residents who could not attend to send comments to the project email address and said the Fit By committee will reconvene in August.
Dr. Gatto emphasized the process is exploratory and that the committee will not present formal recommendations until it has completed analysis and community engagement; staff said a likely timeframe for committee recommendations to the board is early next spring. The superintendent described the event format as interactive, with participants asked to provide ideas for repurposing schools and to note what community supports would be needed.
No board action was taken; Dr. Gatto asked the public to continue sharing input via the district'provided channels.
