Four Superior High musicians invited to Wisconsin State Honors ensembles

Superior High School music staff told the Superior School District Board of Education on May 12 that four students earned invitations to the Wisconsin State Music Association (WSMA) State Honors ensembles.
Amy Einhertz, orchestra director at Superior High School, said the WSMA State Honors Music Project is a competitive program that this year drew nearly 1,500 auditioning students for 430 spots across five ensembles. Einhertz introduced the students and noted the program culminates with an October performance at the Wisconsin Music Conference in Madison.
The students recognized were Dylan Blake (junior, selected for the state honors orchestra on violin; absent from the meeting due to illness), Raven (10th grade, selected for the state honors orchestra), Zach (11th grade, selected for the state honors mixed choir, tenor) and Nick (10th grade, selected for the state honors jazz ensemble on trumpet). Einhertz noted that Nick’s selection marks his second year in the jazz ensemble.
Board members and staff congratulated the students for their preparation and achievement. The recognition was presented as an informational item; no board vote or further action was required.
