Board approves FBLA national trip, senior class trip and several contracts; district costs disclosed

CENTENNIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT, Pa. — At its May 13 meeting the Centennial School District Board of School Directors approved two overnight student travel requests and several service contracts and tuition agreements for the 2025–26 school year.
The most immediate approvals concerned student travel. The board voted, without opposition, to approve an overnight trip for four William Tennant High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students and two chaperones to attend the FBLA national conference in Anaheim, California, June 27–July 3, 2025; district cost not to exceed $14,814. The board also approved the William Tennant senior class trip to Walt Disney World, Florida (spring 2026); the district will cover substitute teacher costs at $130 per day, with the total district cost to be announced later. Both motions passed unanimously (8–0).
Other approvals and costs In the consent and contracts sections the board approved or renewed multiple agreements the district said are needed for special education services, software, and tuition seats:
- Software maintenance and service renewal for 2025–26: district cost not to exceed $265,074.01. - Vimeo quote: three‑year renewal (July 1, 2025–June 30, 2028) for a total district cost of $52,500. - PowerSchool IEP renewal (one year): district cost not to exceed $18,837.77. - Agreement with the Council of Southeast Pennsylvania Inc. to provide three Student Assistance Program (SAP) counselors for the 2025–26 school year: district cost not to exceed $135,555. - Keystone Freedom Academy renewal: tuition for five seats, district cost $263,898; additional enrollment billed at $324 per day per student. - ESY tuition agreement for Shareworld Academy: ESY tuition fee $6,836.52 per student; two students anticipated. - Several duration and renewal agreements with Comprehensive Learning Center Inc. for individual students at $128,500 per agreement (as listed on the agenda).
Board members noted one finance detail about the Keystone Freedom Academy agreement: the district accepted a higher upfront payment in exchange for a 10% discount and said the upfront investment will cost more now but would be more expensive if seats were bought later.
Routine business and votes The board also approved the consent agenda (minutes, personnel items, waivers, and related items), adopted two policies (including an opioid antagonist policy), and accepted routine finance reports and preapproved bills; those motions passed by unanimous votes. One agenda item — naming delegates for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association delegate assembly — was tabled for a future meeting.
Speakers at the meeting emphasized student achievement and extracurricular opportunities. Several trustees and community members thanked students and staff for recent events, including arts and fine arts festivals and other student showcases.
