The Orange Village Council on May 14 approved the appointment of Fred Guerrera, AICP, as the village planner and the mayor administered the oath of office.
Mayor Judson A. Klein told the council Guerrera is an urban planning and development professional with more than 40 years of experience, including roles as planning director in Cuyahoga Falls and Barberton and as principal of Town Planning Practice. Klein said Guerrera is an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certificant and a lecturer at the University of Akron.
The appointment followed the retirement of longtime planner Mark Majeski, who Klein said left the position effective April 1. Council members voted to suspend the rules and approve the appointment; roll call recorded votes in favor by Vincent, Madden, Foster, Ulner, Bilski and Silver.
Klein administered the oath of office to Guerrera at the meeting. Klein said the appointment will allow the village to proceed with planning work scheduled in the coming months.
