The county parks director told the Budget and Finance Committee that repaving the walking track will be deferred for another year because the department has higher-priority projects this year, and that planned work on the municipal swimming pool will likely require a separate budget amendment.
At the meeting the parks director said many projects are already underway, including playground work and landscaping, and that maintenance staff lack the manpower this year to prepare and repave the walking track. Commissioners asked whether the pool work could be postponed; the parks director responded that the pool likely cannot be postponed another year and that any pool contract would require bids and a longer procurement timeline.
The committee approved the parks budget as presented. The parks director said that if the pool work proceeds staff will bring a budget amendment to the committee for approval after obtaining cost estimates.
