In discussion, a board member asked whether the majority of purchases are U.S.-grown; the presenter said most food is domestic but that items like pineapple are sourced internationally due to where they are grown.
Board members remarked on the scale of procurement; one member noted the district’s canned/frozen purchases were roughly $6,000,000 and asked about mozzarella sourcing in recent weeks. The presenter said staff will return with additional details at a future meeting. The nutrition services item was informational and will return to the board for contract approval and final award documentation as required.
