During the public hearing on the budget ordinance (Budget Amendment No. 1 for FY 2025-26), the council closed the hearing and considered items separately. The council approved an item to provide public right-of-way safety barricades and an emergency loan program; both measures passed with no recorded opposition among members present.
The council deferred the item for rental assistance so staff could provide additional policy clarification. Council members said they wanted a clear "policy umbrella" to ensure the city deploys assistance tools consistently and protects the city9s interests before committing funds.
