The Lake County School Board on May 12 gave final approval to a package of district policy updates, including changes to definitions, anti‑harassment rules and student records, following a public hearing that drew no public comment.
The policy package includes Policy 100 (Definitions); 131.1 (Technical Corrections); 136.2 and 3362 (Anti‑harassment); 2120 (School Improvement); 2125 (School Advisory Councils for School Improvement and Accountability); 2371 (HOPE Scholarships); 2432 (Driver Education); 2520 (Selection and Adoption of Instructional Materials); 2522 (Challenges to Adoption or Use of Instructional/Library/Reading List Materials); 4362 (Anti‑harassment); and 8330 (Student Records).
At the outset of the public hearing, School Board attorney Mr. Cole read the list of policies up for final approval and asked whether any member of the public wished to speak. "Would anyone like at this time to speak to any of these rules? Hearing none, the public hearing is closed," Mr. Cole said.
The superintendent recommended final approval of the policies as presented. A motion to approve was made by Mr. Mathias and seconded by Mr. Dodd. The board voted 4–0 to adopt the changes.
Board members did not request further changes during the meeting and no amendments were offered. The package moves forward as final district policy per the board’s vote; the superintendent and district staff will implement the approved revisions under existing administrative processes.
The action completes the board’s review cycle for the listed policies; the district did not announce an implementation date at the meeting.
