Mayor Rivera said, “we will then try, and also ask the MTA to cover that cost because, obviously, we didn't build a garage. They built a garage.” The board approved the engineering retention after a motion by Deputy Mayor Deborah May Sartore and a second by Trustee Clark.
Staff described the action as a step to determine the scope of necessary repairs and to secure remediation from the owner (MTA) prior to final ownership transfer. The $15,000 figure was discussed in the public presentation as the proposed amount for the study; trustees voted to authorize the expense as presented.
