City staff and the applicant discussed details for a proposed 6‑foot aluminum security fence at an existing industrial complex at 650 Marshall Lake Road during the Development Review Committee meeting on May 14.
Kate Bader of Kimley‑Horn, representing the applicant, said the team will add a cover sheet, provide additional mechanical details to show what the fence will look like and note underground utilities on the site plans for the contractor. "We need to add a cover sheet and provide you guys a little bit more detail on the mechanical actual function and what the fence is gonna look like. So we can definitely do that," she said.
Jeremy Holderfield of the Fire Department flagged concerns about emergency access. "I just need to know that we have access to your building. I just see a gate," Holderfield said, asking for clearer gate location details so fire apparatus and hydrant access would not be impeded. He and other staff agreed a Knox box for fire access should be added where the truck court will be secured by a gate.
The applicant said the gate will be powered and that they will provide specifications for gate operation and location. Staff also asked for site plan annotations showing existing hydrants and fire‑truck circulation in relation to the gate. No formal vote was taken; staff asked the applicant to provide the additional details and to resubmit the plan set with the requested notes.
