The Board of Polyquarks and Capital Assets on May 13 awarded the Sharon Drive water main closing project to the low bidder, Wannasac Group, for $52,955.
Staff said the project will close an approximately 300-foot gap in the water main on Sharon Drive north of Puteesta, and that the project had been approved for special assessments at the May 6 common council meeting. With the special assessment approval in place, staff recommended awarding the contract to Wannasac as the lowest responsible bidder.
Staff noted that bidding conditions have improved as construction activity slows and more contractors are competing, which helped lower prices compared with prior estimates. The board moved and approved the award by roll call.
Staff said the award is contingent on the special assessment process and did not provide a construction start date at the meeting.
