Wyoming Valley West nears completion of multi‑year policy manual overhaul; one second reading remains

The Wyoming Valley West School District’s policy committee reported on Wednesday that it has completed most of a multi‑year revision of the district policy manual and expects one final second reading in June.
Board member McGinley, speaking for the policy committee, said the work took roughly 18–24 months and updated a manual that dated to 1985. The committee said it used state mandates and Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) recommendations to bring policies up to contemporary legal and operational standards. McGinley listed committee contributors, including curriculum, safety, human resources, finance and legal staff, and thanked district staff for their sustained involvement.
Why it matters: The policy manual governs district procedures on curriculum, personnel, safety and other matters. Board members said completing the update will align district rules with current state requirements and PSBA guidance. The board indicated one remaining second reading will occur in June, after which the updated manual will be considered finalized.
