The Centre County Board of Commissioners approved adding a contract with Lean In Systems and Solutions to next week’s consent agenda to provide consulting and staff‑support services to the county’s Children & Youth Services (CYS) unit.
Leah (Children & Youth Services) told the board the services would be paid with Family First Transition Act funds and would not draw on county general funds. The funds expire June 30, 2025; the county previously obtained an extension to use the funds through the current fiscal year.
Leah said the consultant will deliver field coaching, help improve problem‑solving and collaboration across the agency and service providers, and operate an after‑hours tech‑support line — described as a staffed listening/support line for employees, not a source of case guidance. The line is intended to give staff a licensed professional to call after difficult field assignments or for peer‑support processing.
Commissioners expressed support for using the federal transition funds to invest in workforce retention and training for a high‑stress frontline workforce. The board moved and seconded to add the contract to next week’s consent agenda; the motion carried.
