Organizers told the commissioners the online event at centergives.org runs from 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 14 through 8 p.m. Thursday, May 15. Molly and Nathaniel, Centre Gives organizers who attended the meeting, said a record 232 organizations had signed up and that organizers are offering a $500,000 stretch pool and more than $40,000 in prizes to stretch and reward donations during the event.
Commissioners praised the initiative as a way for residents to discover local nonprofits. Molly said the program provides low‑barrier giving — gifts can start at $10 — and organizers have expanded outreach this year with billboards, postcards and radio spots. She said the stretch pool is a partnership with the Hamer Foundation and that prizes are distributed during “power hours” to encourage small and large organizations alike.
Organizers said donors can give at centergives.org or call (814) 237‑6229 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. during the event; phone donations are offered for people wary of online credit card use. The event closes with a public Centre Gives Fest Thursday evening, with participating organizations and activities.
The commissioners moved and seconded adoption of the proclamation; the motion carried.
