Court approves $800 contract addition to clear 916 Ray Street site bought by RDC

The Logansport Court of Public Works and Safety approved an $800 contract amendment for Baker Excavating to perform additional clearing at 916 Ray Street, a parcel the city’s Redevelopment Commission purchased and for which demolition work had already been performed.
A representative said the house on 916 Ray Street had been demolished, the site leveled and staff requested additional tree and brush removal to fully clear the lot for future development. “We contracted with Baker Excavating... The house has been taken down, removed, site leveled. When he was down there, we had asked him to also clear out trees and bushes and get the whole site cleared out, for what hopefully will be a new hotel,” the RDC representative said.
The board approved the additional $800 payment to Baker Excavating to complete the clearing work. Staff said the lot is now prepared for future development steps; no contract for a specific hotel redevelopment was presented in the meeting and no binding commitment to a developer was recorded.
The board directed staff to process the contract amendment and to proceed with billing and payment as part of the RDC project ledger.
