County signs funding authorization for Hall of Justice project; staff to share full contract and timeline

Savannah Clement, Public Services, told commissioners the county's original agreement is with the state rather than the contractor Milig (name as spoken in the meeting) and that an amendment and funding authorization were on file. "I have about 50 pages of the actual contract that I wanted to email, after this meeting, just so you have that too," she said.
Clement said that Mike (surname not specified) had been authorized by the board to sign and had executed the documents. She said the county would resend documents to the state if cities or commissioners identify problems and that the vendor user group expressed enthusiasm for the project after board approval.
Commissioners and staff discussed apparent rounding and an earlier $2.48 deduction in the project accounting. Staff explained the top line shows cumulative total funding authorizations for the entire project and that prior, small funding items were included in cumulative totals. Sean Ravey, Public Works, clarified the total authorized for the entirety of the project was $9,160,000 and walked commissioners through the funding-authorizations page and cash-flow figures.
Clement said ordering of equipment is underway and several large lead-time items are being ordered so construction can meet schedule. She reported construction activity is expected to begin in September, with heavier construction in October and November. Clement said she would send the larger contract document and more detailed pricing breakdowns to commissioners and would work with department staff to provide updates.
On Hall of Justice facility maintenance, staff said most low-cost items (signage, exit lighting and door hardware) had been completed, with two remaining larger-dollar items that staff would discuss outside the public workshop. Commissioners asked staff to keep the board updated on use of contingencies and any deductive change orders.
