Committee agrees to send Lincoln Road Mardi Gras proposal to commission for budget workshop consideration

Annabelle Yopis of the Lincoln Road BID told the committee the BID is prepared to proceed and estimated $50,000 for activations plus roughly $54,000 for police, sanitation and related city services, numbers discussed as a planning estimate. Commissioner Micky Bont and others argued the budget process should be used rather than relying on the slower FERC (administrative) route.
"We would like to move this to the city commission so that it can then be voted on to go through the budget process because I understand that FERC is overloaded, and this is for 2026. So there is a timeline. It's urgent," Commissioner Fernandez said.
Staff said they would try to put an addendum on the May city commission meeting; otherwise the item would go to the budget workshop. The committee recorded consensus to forward the item to the city commission with a recommendation that the commission consider sending it to the budgeting workshop so the fiscal review can begin.
