Project representatives said auger-cast piles and foundations are being installed and that a ceremonial groundbreaking is scheduled Friday. "We will be working on foundations until the August, and we will be able to see vertical construction in September," the presenter said, adding the team was tracking toward a building top-out in July 2026, substantial completion in September 2027 and an opening in November 2027.
Commissioner Laura Dominguez asked for the item to return in July to confirm whether foundation work was complete and whether the project remained on schedule for September vertical construction; staff agreed to return in July.
The committee did not take a formal vote; the committee recorded a direction to return the item in July to check schedule progress.
