Park board reviews vending machine proposal and nonworking cameras for Smith Building area

During the work session the Henry County Parks Board and staff reviewed a proposal to site a drinks-and-snacks vending machine near the north parking area at the Smith Building and discussed related shelter and camera needs.
Board members said the preferred site is near an existing electric post north of Smith Building parking; the vendor (Vending Vault) proposed a half-drinks/half-snacks machine in that location. The park would provide a shelter structure; board members discussed reusing or expanding an existing small shelter and asked staff to measure and confirm dimensions. Under the proposed arrangement, the vendor would be responsible for machine maintenance, stocking and reporting vandalism or outages to park staff.
Staff reported two cameras that overlook the proposed location are not currently working and will require electrical or configuration changes before they can be used; the board asked facilities staff to coordinate repairs so the vending-machine spot has active coverage before the vendor installs equipment.
The board directed staff to forward the vendor contract to county counsel or the appropriate reviewer (Joel) for legal review and to bring the contract back for action at the next regular meeting.
