The Public Works, Properties and Sustainability Committee updated members that the village board has approved a no-parking designation along the north side of Clark Street to preserve two-way travel and emergency access.
Kyla said the change follows a temporary no-parking order during events at Bakken Park and was recommended to address limited travel width for emergency vehicles. She told the committee staff are “working on getting signs to fully implement that” designation once the temporary restriction expires.
Committee members discussed parking pressures during overlapping events. Kyla and staff noted parking alternatives at Bakken Park, near pickleball courts and during the Fireman's Festival but said rugby games and other concurrent events led some attendees to park on the grass and neighborhood streets. The police chief reported an increase in parking tickets during those events, according to staff.
No new ordinance language was presented at the meeting; staff described the implementation as a signage and enforcement action following village board approval. The committee continues to monitor event-day parking and agreed to revisit the issue if it reoccurs.
