The Newman City Council on May 13 awarded the 2025 asphalt concrete pavement preservation contract to Blunt Construction, the low bidder at $2,159,637.84.
Mr. Clark presented the city's annual paving project, including the list of streets and the proposed approach, and told council that Blunt Construction submitted the low bid and staff recommended award so work could begin this summer.
“Good afternoon, Mayor and Council. This would be our summer of 2025 paving project… Blunt Construction was the low bid at $2,159,637.84 and we would recommend that you all award a contract to them so we can get them started,” Mr. Clark said.
Council moved to accept the staff recommendation and awarded the contract by voice vote; the mayor called the question and the motion carried. Council did not record a roll‑call tally in the public transcript.
Next steps: the city will finalize the contract paperwork with Blunt Construction and issue a notice to proceed consistent with the project schedule in the bid documents.
