Public works: hydrant flushing, Hopkins Street waterline work and pool schedule announced

Public works representative Mack told the council, “We are hydrant flushing this week.” He said the activity prepares the system for a scheduled in‑house waterline replacement on Hopkins Street next week between Buckeye Street and Grover and asked residents to expect possible traffic delays. Mack said crews are ready and that additional waterline replacement work is planned in later years.
Mack also said the city’s splash pad is open and that the Kingsbury pool will open June 2 as crews finish preparations. Separately, the mayor reminded the public that the final Parks and Riverfront plan presentation will be held Sept. 2 at the council chambers and invited public comment at that event.
The council did not take formal action on these operational updates; the items were reported for public information and to notify residents of expected work and schedule changes.
