Commissioners approve one-time initiatives, Cape Cod Commission and dredge fund budgets; consent agenda passes

During the May 14 meeting, Barnstable County Commissioners approved several related fiscal items in addition to the general operating budget.
The board approved Ordinance 25-04, the FY2026 one-time and new initiatives package as presented by the assembly of delegates. Commissioners recorded no extended discussion at the meeting on this item and approved it by motion.
The commissioners also approved Ordinance 25-05, the FY2026 Cape Cod Commission operating budget as received from the assembly, and Ordinance 25-06, the FY2026 dredge enterprise fund operating budget. Motions to approve those ordinances were moved and seconded during the meeting and passed with affirmative votes.
Separately, the commissioners authorized and approved the chairman's consent agenda items 8a through 8k listed on the May 14 agenda by motion, with no items removed for separate discussion.
Commissioners said they will continue work on a dredge summit and noted regional coordination on dredge permitting and potential federal funding impacts. They also previewed upcoming agenda items including a facilities master plan presentation, a private well testing pilot funded with ARPA dollars, PFAS updates and quarterly capital updates in June.
