Waukegan Public Schools recapped an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration held at Jack Benny Middle School this week, district communications director Nikos Salazakis said.
The event brought students, community performers and organizations together for an evening of culture, food and performances, Salazakis said during the district's weekly update. He thanked performers, participating organizations, students and staff for their roles in the program.
School officials said the celebration was part of the district's observances for AAPI Heritage Month; organizers included student performers and outside cultural groups. The district described the evening as an opportunity to showcase cultural traditions and engage families across school communities.
Salazakis, director of communications for Waukegan Public Schools, noted the event in a broader weekly summary of district activities.
