Germantown Public Works lists yard-waste, brush and bulky-item schedules and new yard-waste permit

Germantown Public Works Director Matt Mortwood reviewed operational services and schedules and said the residential yard-waste facility has moved to the new public works site off Don Just Bay Road and now requires a free residential yard-waste permit.

Mortwood said the yard-waste site is co-located with the new public works facility; residents must obtain a free two-year permit at Village Hall, providing vehicle and driver’s license information as proof of residence. He described access routing for drivers approaching from Don Just Bay Road and said the Main Street location is no longer used.

The village’s annual curbside brush collection will begin June 2. Mortwood said residents must place brush at the front of property by June 1 because crews will not return to addresses after their pass. He said progress depends on staffing, weather and equipment availability.

Bulky-item collection — for large items such as appliances — will begin June 9 and requires residents to call Waste Management to schedule a pickup; acceptable items are listed on the village or Waste Management website. Mortwood said hydrant flushing is underway (tentatively April 21–May 30 window), street sweeping continues with another pass around July 4, and tree pruning is slated for the fall following the village’s normal approval and outreach process.
