Indian Head Park approves design work to convert chlorine gas feed to liquid at pump house

The Indian Head Park board on May 8 approved a task order with Strand Associates to design and permit an upgrade converting the village’s chlorine gas system to a liquid chemical feed system at the pump house.

The board voted 5-0 to authorize the engineering work after public-works staff said the change is needed to improve operational safety and to meet Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) compliance. Village staff said the conversion is included in the 2025 capital budget and listed the total project budget at $150,000; the board approved the design and permitting phase that evening.

Board discussion was limited to clarifying that the task order covers the design and permitting work and that completing pump-house work is one of the public works priorities for 2025. The resolution passed 5-0.
