Resident praises Ag Reserve preservation and staff report ahead of county commission presentation

Jim Knight, a Palm Beach County resident and former planning-commission volunteer, used public comment Friday to highlight county preservation of the Agricultural Reserve and to praise staff work ahead of a county-commission presentation.

"The staff's put together an incredible report," Knight said, urging the panel to note a one-page snapshot he had distributed. He told commissioners the snapshot shows 13,374 acres preserved in the Ag Reserve—roughly 61% of the reserve's 22,150 total acres—and asked the panel to recognize the joint effort by private developers, the county, the bond issue and the public.

Knight said staff will present a fuller report to the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, May 13, and urged attendees to review the historical context in the staff materials. He identified himself as a native of Palm Beach County and noted past volunteer service on the county planning commission and local advisory groups.
