School committee OKs making new elementary school rooftop available for 25-year solar lease

Committee members asked whether the authorization implied use of Quincy Public Schools facilities for energy cost savings and whether the district retained rights to use or access the rooftop; staff said the motion is the first step to allow the DPW and the city to seek proposals under procurement law and that additional agreements would clarify financial and operational terms and whether the district benefits directly from on-site generation or from a community host arrangement.
The motion passed on a roll-call vote.
