Rotary Park wayfinding and interpretive signage to be simplified; volunteers to remove old plates ahead of Memorial Day

Parks staff said the department and Rotary volunteers have been working with interested citizens to simplify wayfinding at Rotary Park, reducing a current set of roughly 23 large map panels to about 10 and adding simpler arrow signs to direct visitors to the bridle trail and West Loop.
Staff said three or four new geological interpretive signs will be placed along the staircase trail near the upper bridge and viewing decks to explain the falls’ formation and local lichen ecology. Staff said they have eight unused kiosk cabinets and expect to repurpose two for parking-lot informational kiosks that will display trail conditions and rules.
Rotary volunteers planned a maintenance event the coming Saturday to remove current signs and salvage aluminum plates for reuse. Parks staff said the new signs and kiosk updates should be installed before Memorial Day. Staff also noted intermittent microphone issues during the meeting but said that would not affect the work schedule.
Trustees asked that volunteers be reminded to bring water because weather is expected to be hot; parks staff said they would notify the volunteer organizer.
