The Prince William County School Board on May 7 adopted a resolution honoring former Neabsco District member Diane L. Ralston, praising her decades of service to the community, advocacy for students and families, and leadership on the board.
Board Member Jeffrey Wilk moved the resolution and described Ralston’s long record of civic engagement that the board’s text recited, including advocacy for teacher compensation, career and technical education and family engagement. Several board members and community speakers offered personal tributes describing Ralston as a mentor and a persistent advocate for equity and children’s services.
The resolution, read in open session, listed Ralston’s public service and community roles and said a copy of the resolution would be presented to her family. Members of Ralston’s family, including her daughter Monique and grandchildren, were present and were invited to stand and speak briefly; Monique Ralston thanked the board for recognizing her mother and said the family appreciated the board’s tribute.
The motion to adopt the resolution passed by voice vote with the board recording a 7‑yes, 1‑not‑present tally at that point in the meeting for similar actions; the board then posed for photos with the family.
