Board of Selectmen approves revised pool resurfacing RFP; Westman Sampson selected, town staff say

The Milford Recreation Commission was told April 16 that the Board of Selectmen approved a revised request-for-proposal and selected Westman Sampson to resurface the town pool.

Brandon (recreation staff member) told the commission that two bids were received and that the Selectmen asked for more detail about necessary repairs. "They wanted more description of the repairs that needed to be done, so we reworked it, and sent it out to West and Sampson," Brandon said. "They put the wording into the package so that it was approved, and we'll be starting that project next week. Yes. So we are excited. That is gonna get done, and it should be done in time for this season."

The commission was presented the update as part of the director's report. Staff said the revised RFP clarified repair scope at the Selectmen's request before the contract award. The recreation department did not itself award the contract; staff reported the Board of Selectmen made the decision at its Monday meeting.

Commissioners and staff said the schedule should allow the pool to be ready for summer programming, and staff thanked colleagues who helped get the RFP changes in place. No dollar amounts for the contract were given at the Recreation Commission meeting, and no new financing or appropriation was reported at the meeting.

Next steps described at the meeting: Westman Sampson will begin the work next week, and staff expect the resurfacing to be finished in time for this season.
