The El Segundo City Council on May 6 approved formation of an ad hoc major events subcommittee and appointed a council member to convene the group, which will include representatives from the Planning Commission and the Recreation and Parks Commission.
Council Member Michelle Kjeldorf raised the idea of the subcommittee and discussed structure options with Deputy City Manager Barbara Voss. The council passed a motion to appoint a council member (recorded in the transcript as Keldorff) to establish the ad hoc major events subcommittee; the subcommittee is to report back to the full council at the June 3 meeting. Council Member Keldorff also provided an update on phase 1 of the Recreation Park renovation project, which will be advertised for bids with an estimated groundbreaking and completion timing noted in the staff update.
The council did not adopt charter language or a final membership list during the May 6 meeting; the appointed council member will return with structure and membership details on June 3.
