March operating report: Hampton City Schools reports $29M in March revenue, year-to-date $222M; ADM below budget

Hampton City Schools CFO Brittany Branch presented the monthly operating report for March 2025 on May 7, reporting over $29 million in revenue for the month and year-to-date revenues of $222 million. The district spent and encumbered more than $27 million in March, bringing cumulative spending to about $243 million and using more than 74% of the budget through March.
Branch told the board the largest revenue source remains state funding and that on March 31 the district reported average daily membership (ADM) of 18,651 against a budgeted ADM of 18,814, a difference of 163 students. Branch said the district expects an additional approximately $700,000 in state funding as an offset related to recently approved state budget proposals.
Board members had no follow-up questions during the report. Branch noted that the district compares current spending rates to the prior fiscal year and that through March the district has spent a slightly higher percentage of the budget compared with the prior year (74% versus 73% at the same point last year). Branch closed by saying staff will continue to monitor revenues and expenditures and return with updates as needed.
