The Bexley Architectural Review Board approved application ARB25-22 for front-porch post replacement and a small patio at 950 Grandin on May 8, 2025, with conditions requiring the applicant to work with the residential design consultant and submit final column details for board review by email.
Applicant and owner Allen Reynolds presented the project and said the intent was to reconstruct the porch using more traditional wrapped columns and to add seasonal plantings at the new patio. Residential design staff showed column detail sketches and asked for dimensions, paint colors and a plan for permanent plantings at the patio’s edge.
Board members praised the applicant’s work on the house and recommended proportion adjustments to avoid oversized trim. Member Hyer moved to approve with the condition that the applicant continue to work with the design consultant and provide the column detail for review; the motion was seconded by Mister Hall. By roll call the board voted unanimously to approve ARB25-22 with the stated conditions. Staff read findings of fact into the record granting a certificate of appropriateness contingent on the consultant’s review and email approval by the board.
The board told the applicant to send the final details to the full board so minor changes could be handled by the residential design consultant; major changes would return for formal review.
