Separately, the board later approved a motion to amend the 2024–25 school calendar. On an 8-0 vote, the board converted Friday, May 23 to a no-school day to account for an unused snow day; Monday, June 2, Tuesday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 4 were designated Act 80 early-dismissal days; and Friday, June 6 became an abbreviated dismissal day. The amendment passed unanimously.
Board members and staff said the targeted changes were intended to address scheduling needs that remained for the school year. The broader question of the 2025–26 calendar — including start dates and other structural items raised in public comment — was discussed but not formally reopened by the board during this meeting.
Public comment during the meeting emphasized the short notice for families and employment scheduling conflicts related to the new school-year start date. Board members acknowledged the concerns but said the full calendar remained as adopted after prior deliberations.
