The Des Moines City Council approved an addendum with Moffett Nickel on May 8 in the amount of $74,251 to cover additional design and permitting work for the L, M and N docks replacement project.
Scott Wilkins, who identified himself as representing the Des Moines Marina nonprofit, explained the additional fee covers design and permitting work that occurred during a prolonged permit delay and for revisions required after federal agency comments and code changes. Wilkins said the earlier hiatus required reworking bid packages and that construction ultimately came in under budget; the addendum reimburses consultant work done before the project went out to bid.
Council member Harris asked about timing and potential future overages; Wilkins and staff said the construction project was on track and that any further consulting needs would return to council as separate items. Council then voted to approve the addendum and authorize the city manager to sign the contract substantially in the form attached.
Ending: Council approved the addendum by voice vote; staff will proceed with the construction contract and bring any additional consulting agreements back to the council as needed.
